Normative Problems of Democratic Theory (2023)

The monograph concerns some basic normative issues arising in the contemporary democratic theory. The author compares the democratic ideal with its undemocratic alternative and comes to the conclusion that democracy is not always the best form of government. Contemporary models of democracy are analyzed. The aouthor argues that none of them can serve as a basic normative model for a democratic form of government. Some basic institutions and mechanisms of democracy are examined. The author defends the thesis that the institutions of direct democracy, for all their ambivalence, contain some potential, but the institution of elections today can hardly be considered the main and even more indispensable attribute of democratic governance. What do we live for? (2015)

What is the sense of life? How does the world work, what can we even know about it, and what should we do? These philosophical questions are asked by each of us from time to time. Through the prism of the views of famous thinkers of different eras, the author of this book in an accessible form sets out his vision of philosophical problems, making philosophy as close as possible to everyday life. This book is equally far from ordinary pseudo-wisdom, tedious science and religious dogmas, which makes it so useful and interesting. The collection offered to the reader's judgment consists of the book itself, "What do we live for?", intended mainly for teenagers, as well as several philosophical essays for older readers who think about "eternal" questions. Complemented by a collection of poems by the author. All the works included in the collection were written by the author in his youth and represent the first attempt at writing.
